Yoga is an ancient practice from India that teaches us how to integrate all aspects of ourselves (mind, body and spirit) through breathing, postures, alignment, and meditation. It has numerous applications for modern day Americans including stress relief, increased concentration, improved strength and flexibility and quality of life, just to name a few!
We have trained extensively with some of the nation’s finest yoga teachers, and offer private and group classes, corporate stress reduction seminars and workshops for those who want to deepen their practice. The Earth Path Yoga studio is located in Waveland, MS, at 451 Hwy. 90. Private classes, workshops and corporate classes can be scheduled at your home or office.
Earth Path yoga was formed from our mutual passion and respect for yoga and a recognized need for this type of work in our community. Our intention is to inspire you to recognize your own unlimited potential for health, healing and wholeness so that you can walk through life with ease and energy, both inside and out! General Classes - What to Expect
In the midst of our busy and hectic lives, rarely do we take the time to consciously pause and listen to what our bodies are telling us. As a result, we often develop unhealthy breathing, eating and sleeping habits, as well as poor posture.
In yoga class, you will first be introduced to your breath and taught how to connect with it in different ways, as this is the foundation for stress reduction. Next, you will learn how proper posture and alignment of the legs, pelvis and spine can help to prevent and relieve back pain, and increase your breathing capacity. You will be taught physical standing, sitting, and supine postures that will help bring the body back into its natural alignment and balance. In addition to getting the body strong and flexible, this work is crucial for counteracting the affects of sitting, driving, and computer time on the body. As life-long holding patterns are released from the muscles and tissues of the body, creating circulation and oxygenation throughout the organs and various bodily systems, you will begin to cultivate a sense of inner peace, energy and tranquility, which lie at the heart of yoga.
As you progress in your yoga practice, you will be safely introduced to more challenging postures, including balancing, back bending, and inversions, and given modifications to accommodate your unique needs and limitations. The more challenging poses of yoga bring concentration, agility, and alertness to the body/mind. Each yoga class that you attend is unique and will bring new and interesting insights into how your body moves, feels and breathes. No matter how old or out of shape you feel, all bodies are welcome and NOW is the perfect time to start your yoga practice! You are guaranteed to leave our classes refreshed, relaxed, and renewed!
Students are encouraged to refrain from eating heavy meals 2 hours prior to class and to wear tight fitting clothing so that bone alignment can be observed by your instructor. To get the most out of yoga, a minimum of 2 classes a week is recommended.
